Description
High and low are parts of the whole.
Once on top, now rushing to the bottom.
Then back again, completing the circle.
Can you fly over the edge, not knowing what’s below?
This is one of my all-time favorite roller coasters. There aren’t many like it. Apart from being a great ride, I find it expressive of life in that the highs are followed by lows, repeated continually and without fail, until the circuit is completed. All are part of the whole, and we must not be afraid to follow our track through life sometimes not knowing what is over the precipice ahead. In this painting I want the viewer to feel the anticipation of the steep drop, just out of the field of vision. The snow added an esoteric touch to this view on the edge, somehow still, but with the clear feeling of fast motion. The bright colors of the railings were the perfect complement to make this a dynamic painting.
